It was as much a family reunion as a party as Motown stars, friends and fans gathered tonight at the Roostertail to toast, drink and dance to the music that made Detroit famous.

Dorothy Taylor "Dot" Jordan, 80, of Aiken and Seminole, Fla., died Thursday, Nov. 19, 2009, at Aiken Regional Medical Centers.
She attended high school and college in Winter Haven.

Citing the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. 's call to civil disobedience, 145 evangelical, Roman Catholic and Orthodox Christian leaders have signed a declaration saying they will not cooperate with laws that they say could be used to compel their institutions to participate in abortions, or to bless or in any way recognize same-sex couples.

Although some work has begun on Eastern Illinois University's Renewable Energy Center site, the ceremonial groundbreaking will be today, according to a press release from EIU.
The public is welcome to join members of the university community and guests at 3:30 p.m.
Due to limited parking at the construction site, located on the east side of campus near the intersection of 18th Street and Edgar Drive, transportation will be provided.

The Niagara Falls Canucks will be searching for their 15th victory of the season when they host the Stoney Creey Warriors (11-5-2) on Friday night.
The Warriors handed the Canucks an 8-0 loss in the previous game between these two jr. B clubs.

Horace Broadnax might be one of the best salesmen in Savannah.
The Savannah State University men's basketball coach convinced Georgetown University coach John Thompson III to bring the No. 19 Hoyas to Savannah for Saturday's 1 p.m. game at Tiger Arena.
Georgetown, a member of the Big East Conference, will be the most accomplished program ever to play a game at SSU, which has been an NCAA Independent (without conference affiliation) since moving up to Division I in 2002.
